Information we collect
This website does not include an online account system or contact form. The campaign may receive personal information when you choose to email us, request a lawn sign, volunteer, make a contribution, or communicate with us through social media.
Depending on your request, this may include:
- your name, email address, telephone number, and mailing or delivery address;
- your volunteer interests, availability, and campaign communications;
- contribution details and information needed to issue a receipt or meet election-finance obligations; and
- technical information routinely recorded by website hosting services, such as an IP address, browser type, requested pages, and the date and time of a visit.
How information is used
We use personal information to respond to inquiries, arrange lawn-sign delivery, coordinate volunteers and campaign activities, provide campaign updates when requested, process and document contributions, maintain campaign records, protect the website, and comply with legal and regulatory requirements.
Campaign contributions
Ontario municipal-election rules require the campaign to record contributor information and retain campaign financial records until November 15, 2030.
The names and addresses of contributors whose total contributions exceed $100 must be reported in the campaign financial statement, which is filed with the municipal clerk and made available to the public. Contribution receipts are not tax receipts.
When information may be shared
We do not sell or rent personal information. Information may be shared with campaign staff and authorized volunteers who need it for campaign work; service providers that support website hosting, email, payment, recordkeeping, or campaign operations; and government bodies or other parties when disclosure is required or permitted by law.
Service providers are expected to handle information only for the services they provide.
Cookies and website analytics
This website is hosted on Squarespace and uses Google Analytics to understand how many people visit the site and which pages they read. Both place cookies on your browser, and both receive technical information such as your IP address, browser type, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit. Squarespace and Google are located outside Canada, and this information may be stored and processed in other countries.
A cookie banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. We use this information only to understand general traffic to the site. We do not use it to identify individual visitors, and we do not sell or share it for advertising.
The site also links to Facebook and Instagram. If you follow one of those links, those providers may receive information about your visit under their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites.
Retention and safeguards
Except for campaign financial records that must be kept until November 15, 2030, we keep personal information only as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described above and for any additional period required by law.
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the information. No email or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Your choices
You may ask to access or correct personal information held by the campaign, withdraw consent to optional communications, or ask a privacy question. Some information may need to be retained where the law requires it.
